Meditation Technique #1: Why Start Meditation By Taking A Few Deep Breaths as a Complete Beginner

Meditation is way easier and way simpler than you think.

You are already meditating, all the time.

Are you interested to start a regular meditation practice? Then this post is for you.

If not, then please stop reading.

In January 2019, before I started meditating for the first time, I thought that meditation was some stupid monk stuff.

I knew nothing about meditation so I had tons of questions in my mind about it.

Then I read a Facebook post in a business group from a guy called Mike about how he started meditating every day with this app called Headspace. (No, I don't recommend this app.)

He was really enthusiastic about meditation so I got super curious.

I asked him tons of questions which he didn't answer, he told me to just try it out for 3 minutes.

And I'm glad I did.

I bore you to death with my story just to tell you that I have answers to all your questions but you can just start and try it out for 3 minutes.

You don't even need 3 minutes, just take a few deep breaths and enjoy it. That's it.

Breathing is such a buzzword today.

There is breathing for relaxation, breathing for hallucination, breathing for summoning fireballs...

But there is a reason why you usually start a meditation practice with your breathing:

Because it's easy.

Your breath is a large, dynamic object of attention which is easy to focus on.

And it feels freaking good to take a few deep breaths and feel your body relax.

Eckhart Tolle says that if your only meditation practice was focusing on your breath, it would already be enough.

Meditation is about directing your attention and focus.

Practicing to focus on your breath is already a complete meditation practice. (But of course I have many more meditation techniques to teach you if you are interested.)
